The Riverview, rooted in history dating back to 1870, offers a unique agritourism experience on a site once part of the historic Severy Ranch. Originally established by Col. Luther Severy, the ranch was known for its Victorian farmhouses, scenic rock walls, flagstone sidewalks, and the iconic Severy’s Crossing bridge over the Marais des Cygnes River. The property has hosted grand community picnics and gatherings for generations, fostering a tradition of celebration and connection to the land.
Now under the stewardship of JT and Amy Crawford, who are passionate about preserving local history, The Riverview has been carefully restored to honor its past while offering modern amenities. Designated on the Kansas and National Register of Historical Places in 2022, it provides visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in its agricultural heritage and historic charm.
Explore the rich history of our farm and ranch with engaging, hands-on tours designed for schools, organizations, and history enthusiasts.
Discover how life on the farm shaped our region, from early agricultural practices to the daily lives of those who worked the land. Wander through original buildings, see vintage farming tools up close, and experience a slice of history brought to life.
